I’m releasing this little song because it has been a part of me ever since the melody first came to me. I want this truth to reverberate in you, too, almost like a meditation that can stay with you always:
“I am loved by an Infinite Love, and so my life is good.”
DJ Robbie Rivera and I will also be working on a remix of this as well, which is actually how I originally intended to release it, but when I recorded it on its own I realized we could and should release both.
The song is titled Bakhita because it is based on one of her most famous quotes:
“I am definitively loved and whatever happens to me - I am awaited by that Love. And so my life is good.”
This is the kind of thing that can take a whole lifetime to sink in: that we are loved by the most beautiful person who could ever love us, and loved perfectly, infinitely, forever. And that this is all that actually matters!
These words do not come to us lightly. St. Bakhita was sold and re-sold, made a slave, physically abused, sexually abused—even to the point of, for a time, completely forgetting her own name. As Providence would have it—and often has it in our lives if we are courageous enough to look—in and through these horrendous sufferings that are inexcusable sins of others, she found Love Himself, Jesus Christ. Often our most bitter chapters are where we mysteriously come to encounter Him, not because God directly wills our horrific suffering, but because He desires to triumph through the ugliest things, turning even what is darkness and death into light and life.
So it was with the Crucifixion, the most evil act committed in the history of the world against perfect innocence: it became the means of our redemption. So it is with many of the martyrs and saints. So it is with dear St. Josephine Bakhita.
And so it can be with us.
I pray this song blesses you and helps this incredible truth to sink deeper into your being, even while the storms and sufferings of your life rage. Our starting point is that we are loved, and so whatever comes, our lives can truly be good.

I'm lying in bed with Day 2 of a fibromyalgia flare which will prevent me from serving as Narrator to today's gospel at Mass. I decided it means God wants me to listen today. I came across this song and I thank you for helping me to listen through the words of our friend Sister Josephine.
Beautiful Kay! Balm for the soul 💖
